AlphaPC 164BX Motherboard provides the cost-effective solution and industry’s high motherboard performance and standard for OEMs and system integrators.

AlphaPC 164BX Motherboard has the same features as the AlphaPC 164UX, with the exception of on-board Ultra-Wide SCSI and 10/100 Mbs Ethernet, so it supports the Alpha 21164 microprocessor at speeds of 600MHz and beyond and uses Digital’s 21174(Pyxis) core logic chip set that can support 128-bit memory access at speeds up to 66MHz.

The AlphaPC 164BX is perfectly organized for Windows NT server and workstation applications such as computer based video systems, computer aided design, financial analysis, Internet servers and high-end graphics such as 3-D rendering and animation.

1. Hardware Features

Supports Alpha 21164 microprocessors of 466MHz up to 800 MHz
(33.33MHz increments)

21174 core logic chip interface to the CPU, system memory, L3 cache and PCI bus

Synchronous DRAM (SDRAM) memory

subsystem includes:
- 32MB to 768MB memory (up to 3GB with 512MB DIMM)
- Three banks of 128-bit memory
- Six 168-pin unbuffered SDRAM DIMM sockets

PCI bus support (33MHz) :
- One 64-bit slot and Five 32-bit slots
- PCI-to-ISA bridge using an Intel 82371SB

System I/O chip

L3 cache subsystem supports:
- 128-bit data path
- Synchronous SRAMs(SSRAMs)
- 2MB cache size, using 128K X 18 SSRAMs

2. Software Features

Windows NT Alpha BIOS firmware, which supports installation of Windows NT operating system (Version 4.0 or later)

- Windows NT (Version 4.0 or later)

4. Applications

The AlphaPC 164LX enables OEMs to create AlphaPC systems for the high performance PC market. This ATX motherboard fits into standard ATX enclosures and utilizes standard ATX power supplies.
